What is Lawn Aeration?
When you aerate your lawn, you punch holes in the soil. These holes allow more air and water circulation around your lawn's roots, preventing fungal invasions, and they encourage the growth of healthy microorganisms in the soil. These microorganisms eat lawn thatch, a layer of dead bits of grass on top of the soil that can choke out your lawn. Aeration also makes it easier for your lawn to grow stronger, deeper roots. A good root system is essential for your lawn's survival in times of drought.
When Should Lawn Aeration Take Place?
The best times to aerate your lawn are the spring and fall. If you have warm season grass in your lawn, spring is preferable because the grass is gearing up for rapid growth and can recover quickly from aeration. Cool season lawns grow most vigorously in the early fall, so that is a prime time to aerate them. By aerating just once or twice a year, you can ensure that your lawn's roots are strong.

The 4th tee box has been closed off due to one of the neighboring houses complaining about receiving too many golf balls in their yard.
The red, white, blue, and black tee boxes are all now joined in front of the marsh area. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The 8th green was reopened today. Thank you to everyone for your cooperation during the past few weeks.

We will be aerating and top dressing the greens Monday and
Tuesday of this week. During the process we will also be rolling the greens
for a smoother putting surface.
April 29, 2010
For the month of May we will have a temporary green on the
8th hole as well as closing off parts of 3, 11, and the putting green. The
reason for this is because we have slice seeded these areas and we want
to give the seedlings the best chance to root. For this short period of
time that we give these newly seeded areas time to grow, the result will be a
much nicer surface and green to play and practice on the rest of the season.
Thank you for your understanding.
